Pockets!

Every apron I make has ample pockets.  For women, this is a must, because so few women's clothes apart from jeans HAVE pockets! An apron pocket gives a place to put phone, pencil, odds-and-ends, or anything else that comes to my hand during the course of the day.    This becomes one of the more practical adaptations for dressing in a feminine way.

The men's aprons have pockets, too, but they aren't quite as necessary.  Someone asked me last summer just why a guy's apron needed a pocket, and we had a laugh about it, but I suppose in the end I just think it looks more complete.

Christmas aprons

Just a few more days to wear my Christmas aprons.  But alas, none of my several aprons is of my own making!  All are vintage or vintage-inspired aprons.  Two are solid red with ENORMOUS pockets.  One has candles on the pockets and the other has angels on the pockets.
The other two are that wonderful printed style of 1950s Christmas linen, poinsettias and candles and such all over.  I'm sure my grandmother is a bit baffled by my tastes in Christmas decorations, reflecting what she picked out between 60 and 50 years ago.
(Yes, note the present tense about my grandmother- she's a very vibrant 90!)
